Salon de Vortex is a collaboration between the artists Yiannis Grigoriadis and Yiannis Isidorou. The two artists have been working together since 2007 and they founded Salon de Vortex in 2009, on the basis of a dialectic relationship which produces works in the form of complex installations. These non narrative works which include the use of every medium, from sculpture to video, text and archive material, seek to enunciate a theory of overcoming, an inventive and imaginative critique on contemporary social and political status, and an analysis of dominant aspects of the urban culture.

Active intellectuals, writers, artists and poets are often invited to participate and develop tactics of observation and recognition of facts and symptoms of the contemporary metropolis. Salon de Vortex aspires to research and unriddle the mysteries of up and coming ignorance, of radicalism, of the intensified discontent and the seemingly inevitable alienation. It supports art, poetry and thinking as the basic tools, for creatively traversing the mechanisms of urbanism.

The main issues on which SDV focuses are such as the Modern Utopia and the Post-modern cynicism. Re-describing as a method of appropriation of life. The Structured space and the Fragmented representation. The Political ground. The Unseen spots. Τhe desire for community.

Their main works are Mofferism (2011, complex installation, presented in Athens and Thessaloniki), Rebuilding Dialectics (2013, complex installation presented in Athens, Amfissa, Athens Biennale 2013), Urbanism for Dummies  (2013, one year residency in the Cheap Art gallery in Atnens, collective work curated by Salon de Vortex),Violence and Legitimacy, (installation, Art Athina, 2013) 851 Αthina-Νikea, (2015, installation art athina)

Το Salon de Vortex είναι μία συνεργασία μεταξύ των εικαστικών Γιάννη Γρηγοριάδη και Γιάννη Ισιδώρου. Οι δύο καλλιτέχνες συνεργάζοται από το 2007 και ίδρυσαν το Salon de Vortex το 2009, στη βάση μιας διαλεκτικής σχέσης η οποία δημιουργεί έργα στη μορφή σύνθετων εγκαταστάσεων. Αυτά τα έργα που περιλαμβάνουν πολλά διαφορετικά μέσα από γλυπτά ώς βίντεο, κείμενα φωτογραφία και αρχειακό υλικό, αρθρώνουν μια καλλιτεχνική θεωρία της υπέρβασης, έναν εφευρετικό και ευφάνταστο κριτικό λόγο απέναντι στη σύγχρονη κοινωνική και πολιτική κατάσταση και αποπειρώνται να αναλύσουν τις κυρίαρχες συνθήκες της αστικής κουλτούρας.
Ενεργοί διανοούμενοι, συγγραφείς, καλλιτέχνες και ποιητές, συμμετέχουν συχνά στα έργα του SDV και προσκαλούνται να αναπτύξουν τακτικές εποπτείας και αναγνώρισης γεγονότων και συμπτωμάτων της σύγχρονης μεγαλούπολης.
To SDV σκοπεύει να ερευνήσει και να εξιχνιάσει τα μυστήρια της ανερχόμενης άγνοιας, του ριζοσπαστισμού, της εντεινόμενης δυσφορίας και της φαινομενικά αναπόδραστης αποξένωσης. Υποστηρίζει την τέχνη, την ποίηση και τον στοχασμό ως βασικά εργαλεία της δημιουργικής προσπέλασης των μηχανισμών της πολεοδομίας. Το SDV στρέφει την προσοχή του σε ζητήματα όπως η Μοντέρνα ουτοπία και ο Μεταμοντέρνος Κυνισμός. H Αναπεριγραφή ως μέθοδος οικειοποίησης της ζωής. Ο Δομημένος χώρος και ή Θραυσματική αναπαράσταση. Το Πολιτικό Έδαφος. Τα Αθέατα σημεία. Το αίτημα της κοινότητας.

Τα κύρια έργα τους είναι το Mofferism (2011, σύνθετη εγκατάσταση που παρουσιάστηκε στην Αθήνα στο project space salon de Vortex και στο στρατόπεδο Κόδρα στη Θεσσαλονίκη), Rebuilding Dialectics  (σύνθετη εγκατάσταση που παρουσιάστηκε στη γκαλλερί Cheap Art, στην Άμφισσα και τμήμα του στην Athens Biennale, 2013), Urbanism for Dummies  (2013, residency ενός έτους στην Cheap Art, συλλογικό έργο σε επιμέλεια του Salon de Vortex), Violence and Legitimacy, (εγκατάσταση στην Art Athina, 2013)  851 Αθήνα – Νίκαια εγκατάσταση στην αρτ αθηνα 2015.
